Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 29 March 2019 | James & Jerome | Ecco Ristorante, Drummoyne, Sydney

James and Jerome met just over thirty years ago. They share a love for ballet, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, travel and Kylie Minogue and today, they were making it all official, exchanging vows and becoming husbands.

It was a beautiful Sydney afternoon as family and friends gathered on the deck at Ecco Ristorante in Drummoyne with a stunning view of Sydney Harbour as a backdrop. Shortly afterwards, to the sounds to Pachelbel's Canon in D, exquisitely played by Jasmine Strings, James, Jerome and their Wedding Party proceeded to walk down the aisle. What followed was a beautiful ceremony, which was wonderfully officiated by Kathyrn Breusch. The ceremony included heartfelt vows from both James and Jerome. Before we knew it they were married and pronounced husband and husband!

This was followed by drinks and canapes whilst guests congratulated James and Jerome, chatted, caught up and enjoyed the spectacular view. Not long after, everyone was seated, the wedding party were introduced and welcomed with great applause, with the biggest applause for James and Jerome. Guests were then served a delicious entree.

Next was the cake cutting, a presentation of a gift to James and Jerome and a dance off where one of the guests whom was celebrating a birthday was inconspicuously made the target of a fun prank, in a nice way of course. Lots of fun for the participants, guests and Ian our birthday boy!!

Guests then enjoyed a delectable main meal before we proceeded with the speeches. James, Jerome and Jerome's sister Lesley all made lovely speeches, but the highlight was a little surprise that Jerome had planned for James. Jerome is a huge ABBA fan and he approached me about doing his speech which included sound drops of particular ABBA songs. We discussed a number of ways to execute this, but ultimately went for the option which would flow better and eliminate any potential hiccups. This was a HUGE hit with all the guests and of course James.

Below is Jerome's speech with the red text being where the drop from the ABBA song occurred:

My dearest James,

Mamma Mia! Here we are, on our wedding day proving that when it comes to love - The Winner Takes It All. It was fate that brought us together thirty years ago when you said, "Take A Chance On Me". You really did Rock Me. In no time at all we began Knowing Me, Knowing You and once we worked out The Name Of The Game, we had fallen well and truly Head Over Heels. I feel like a Dancing Queen whenever you Lay All Your Love On Me. You make my heart go Ring Ring and all I have to do is send out an SOS and you're always there to Gimme!, Gimme!, Gimme! support, advice or a shoulder to cry on. Today I have truly met my Waterloo and I could not wait to say I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do. All that's left is to ask - "Voulez-Vous?"

You can hear Jerome's speech here:

Guests then gathered around the dance floor as James and Jerome danced their first dance together as husbands. It was a choreographed dance to "Give Me Your Love" by Fame - once again enjoyed by all the guests. With no formalities left, all there was to do was dance the night away....and dance they did!!

Before we knew it, it was time to farewell James and Jerome and the celebration came to an end. James and Jerome's wedding represented them totally, there was no pretense, just authenticity. It was a a lot of FUN and from the comments I received as guests were leaving, everyone had such a wonderful time. James and Jerome, thank you for the trust you placed in me - it was a privilege to play a part in your wedding day which was thirty years in the making. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!
