Wedding Ceremony & Reception 28 March 2009 - Kate and Kim Maston

Kate and Kim are another wonderful couple who held their wedding ceremony and reception at The Gap Bluff Centre in Watsons Bay. It is located within the Sydney Harbour National Park and is a spectacular location for both wedding ceremonies and receptions. Commanding views of the city and Sydney Harbour Bridge across the water, it is a perfect location. The very lovely ceremony was officiated by Toni Richards on a perfect Sydney day. A special touch was a poem which was written and read by Kate and Kim's friend Karina, who would also later play a special part in the reception.

"I want to be with you always just as you are
I choose you above all others to share my life with me
I promise to love you for yourself and
I want you to become all that you can be."

Following the ceremony, the 120 guests were treated to champagne on the lawn overlooking the spectacular view. The reception was held in The Armoury.

After everybody had availed themselves to the lovely buffet, it was time for the speeches. We heard from Kate's Dad and Mum, Robert and Vanessa, followed by Kim's Dad and Mum, Kim Snr and Teri. Then it was the Bestman, Fernando and Maid of Honour, Alex's turn. Finally Kim took the microphone. The speeches was a time for everybody to reflect on the past and look towards the bright future that awaits both Kate and Kim.

Kate and Kim had selected the Norah Jones song Come Away With Me for their first dance. In the lead up to the wedding they asked if I t would be possible to have an instrumental version so their friend Karina could sing this song. I managed to secure an instrumental (karaoke) version, Karina and I performed a sound check earlier in the afternoon and the result was a beautiful moment - all I can say is that Karina sang this song with such feeling that it made it really special for Kate and Kim.

Guests enjoyed a mix of party favourites and latino music selected by Kate and Kim. There certainly was never a dull moment on the dance floor. I dare say that everybody enjoyed the day and evening immensely. I believe that I truly have one of the best jobs in the world as I get to meet and work with some very lovely couples and get to share their marriage journey. Kate and Kim were no exception, another beautiful couple who are completely in love with each other and it was an absolute joy to have been a part of their wedding day.

Wedding Reception 21 March 2009 - Katrina and Aatef Khayat

Katrina and Aatef, a fantastic couple who have been sweethearts since school, celebrated their wedding with a cocktail reception amongst 120 invited guests in the Green Room at Quay Restaurant, which is located in the Overseas Passenger Terminal in The Rocks, Sydney. Quay is one of Australia’s most respected Restaurants. Perched above Sydney Harbour, Quay is a magnificent setting and has a true sense of occasion. Day or night the views from the Restaurant – the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the left and the Opera House to the right are spectacular.

Whilst rain threatened to ruin their day early on, the skies cleared resulting in a beautiful Sydney autumn day allowing the ceremony to proceed as scheduled in the Royal Botanical Gardens. It was a relaxed elegant reception with some very touching moments - some of these moments and the love these two beautiful people share for each other is clearly evident in the photographs and video.

During the speeches, guests were treated to Aatef's father playing a lovely musical piece on Spanish guitar. Following the cake cutting it was time for dancing. Friends and family took to the dance floor creating a great atmosphere - the dancing was interspersed with alternating sets of Arabic Music generating a whole lot of communal/group dancing.

There was a very emotional moment during the father/daughter dance when Katrina's Dad, whom unfortunately had suffered a mishap earlier in the evening causing a severe injury to his knee and subsequently was experiencing pain and having difficulty standing let alone walking or dancing, yet nothing - absolutely nothing, was going to stop him from dancing with his beloved Katrina.

It certainly was a beautiful evening in a beautiful location but most importantly, Katrina and Aatef are such a beautiful couple so deeply in love with each other that it was an absolute joy to have been given the privilege to be a part of their wedding day.

  • Bride & Groom Entry Song: "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller
  • Cake Cutting Song: "That's Amore" by Dean Martin
  • Bridal Waltz/First Dance: "Sway" by Dean Martin
  • Father /Daughter Dance: "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder
  • Farewell Dance: "I've Had The Time Of My Life" by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
