Honoured to Be Nominated for the MEX Hall of Fame!

I am incredibly humbled and honoured to announce that I have been nominated for induction into the MEX Hall of Fame at the Mobile Entertainment Expo (MEX) in the USA. As someone based in Australia, this recognition is truly special and a testament to the impact and contributions made within the DJ and MC industry both locally and internationally.

This nomination acknowledges my dedication to the Australian DJ and MC community, my involvement with the International DJ Alliance (which connects professionals across Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada), and my role as an advisor to the Board of the International Disc Jockey News Academy. These collaborations have allowed me to contribute to the ongoing growth, education, and professional development of DJs and MCs worldwide.

To be recognised on a global stage is both humbling and inspiring. It reinforces my belief in the power of community, knowledge-sharing, and the continuous pursuit of excellence in our craft. I extend my deepest gratitude to my peers, mentors, and industry colleagues who have supported me throughout this journey.

Regardless of the final outcome, this nomination is already a tremendous honour, and I look forward to celebrating the achievements of all those who contribute to making our industry better every day.

A Heartfelt Reflection on Being the Inaugural Inductee into the DJAA Hall of Fame

In August 2023, I had the distinct honour of being the inaugural inductee into the DJ Alliance Australasia Inc. (DJAA) Hall of Fame. This recognition is awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Entertainment Industry, and to be chosen as the first recipient is both humbling and deeply meaningful.

The DJAA is a not-for-profit national association dedicated to promoting professionalism within the DJ & MC industry through information, education, networking, and support. Throughout my career, I have strived to contribute to this very mission, believing that our industry thrives when we lift each other up and share knowledge that enhances our craft.

My journey in this industry has always been driven by a passion for creating unforgettable moments for couples and their guests. Every event I’ve been a part of has been an opportunity to craft experiences that linger in the hearts of those present. This recognition, though, has never been my goal. My contributions have never been about me - they have always been about the joy of others, the love celebrated at each wedding, and the memories made on every dance floor.

When I received the news of my induction, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. However, I chose to keep this recognition close to my heart for some time. The decision to not immediately share this news was born from a sense of humility and the belief that the essence of my work lies in the joy it brings to others, not in accolades.

Now, nearly a year later, I find it fitting to express my heartfelt gratitude as four other esteemed colleagues and friends were inducted into the Hall of Fame in late July this year. Their passion, dedication, and love for what they do have inspired me throughout my career. To stand alongside them in this Hall of Fame is truly an honour, and it feels like the right moment to acknowledge the incredible journey we’ve all shared.

In my work with DJ:Plus! Entertainment, I have always sought to align with the DJAA's goals, helping to elevate our industry by promoting excellence in service and professionalism. Whether through mentoring, sharing insights, or supporting fellow DJs and MCs, my aim has been to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and mutual respect within our community.

I want to extend my deepest thanks to the DJAA, my fellow industry professionals, and all those who have supported and encouraged me over the years. This recognition serves as a reminder that while our work may often be behind the scenes, its impact is far-reaching. It reinforces my commitment to continue giving my best to this industry, to every couple, and to every celebration.

In closing, I am deeply grateful for this honour, but even more so for the opportunities I’ve had to make a difference in the lives of others and to contribute to the professionalism and growth of our industry. Here’s to the future of the entertainment industry and to the many more moments we will create together.

The Recent Hiatus and What's Next

Hello, dear readers!

I hope this message finds you well. It's been a bit quieter than usual here on the DJ:Plus! Entertainment Blog, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why and share some exciting news about what's been happening behind the scenes.

Over the past few months, I have been hard at work on something that's been in the pipeline for quite a while now - the redevelopment of the DJ:Plus! Entertainment website. I wanted to create an online space that not only reflects the love, energy and passion I bring to every event but also offer everyone an even better experience when visiting online.

As a result, the blog posts had to take a temporary backseat while I focused on this important project whilst simultaneously running the business and devoting time to the industry association I am a part of. I understand how much many of you value the content created, and appreciate your patience during this recent hiatus.

But the good news is, the website has bee a complete makeover and has been live for a month or so. There a few little things which need to be addressed, but will in no way impact your experience. The new website features a sleek and modern design, improved navigation, and will soon include a wealth of new resources to help you plan your wedding and stay connected with us and I believe now, more than ever, totally reflects who I am and the service I provide.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be catching up on all the exciting news and topics I've been itching to share with you. From wedding trends and party planning tips to MC and DJ insider insights and real event stories, I've got a lot in store.

I'm incredibly excited about this next chapter for DJ:Plus! Entertainment, and am very grateful for your continued support and enthusiasm. As always, your feedback and ideas are always valued, so if there are any topics or questions you'd like me to address in the upcoming blog posts, please don't hesitate to let me know.

ABIA Wedding Industry Awards, 10 December 2019

On Tuesday the 11th of December 2019, DJ:Plus! Entertainment was very proud to once again be a finalist in the 22nd New South Wales' ABIA Wedding Industry Awards for the nineteenth consecutive year. ABIA congratulated DJ:Plus! Entertainment on its achievement as one of New South Wales' Best Wedding Businesses!

DJ:Plus! Entertainment has previously won the NSW Award six times and achieved runner-up and third status many times over the years, but being a finalist and considered one of the best in New South Wales is truly an honour. Given that in 2019 ABIA introduced an quantity criteria in determining the results, which makes it more difficult for a business model like DJ:Plus! Entertainment as it focuses on quality not quantity and as such does not accept more than 25 weddings in any twelve month period, to qualify against those that can potentially perform at a 100 or more weddings a year, is in itself most gratifying in the regard that my couples value the service provided so highly.

Leading a successful business in the saturated wedding marketplace can prove to be a difficult challenge. ABIA went on to say that it is wedding-brands like DJ:Plus! Entertainment that continually strives to improve and deliver the best service possible which can give couples assurance and confidence when planning their wedding day.

DJ:Plus! Entertainment Winner At 2018 LUXlife Magazine Global Wedding Awards

The Global Wedding Awards showcases the brightest and best from across the wedding industry, encompassing everyone from wedding planners and decorators to tailors, caterers, entertainers and everything in between.

In it's second year, I felt very proud when informed earlier in the year that I had been nominated for this award. When informed that I had actually won Best Wedding DJ Australia & Best Wedding MC Australia in the 2018 Awards, I felt extremely humbled and appreciative of the trust that each couple place in me for their wedding day. This is a huge responsibility and not something that I take lightly nor the trust placed in me, for granted.

Seeing those smiles at the end of it all and receiving those hugs is the biggest reward and it never fails to make my heart very happy that I was able to add a little something to a wedding day and the memories. Thank you to all that have allowed me the opportunity to witness their love and be a part of their day. Thank you to all those that continuously encourage and inspire me to be better. Australian Bridal Industry National Designer Of Dreams Awards | 19 June 2018

On the 19th of June 2018, DJ:Plus! Entertainment was pleased to attend the Australian Bridal Industry Academy's prestigious 9th National Designer of Dreams Awards at The Star on the Gold Coast. 

Wedding providers from all over Australia came together to celebrate excellence in the industry and it was such an honour to sit in a room with the best of the best and witness their achievements, hear their struggles and challenges and share ways of making each and every couple's wedding day the best it can be.   

To be a finalist in these awards is a great achievement in itself! Over the preceding 4 years, 102,293 couples took the time to nominate & provide feedback on 3,712 wedding businesses in ABIA's Four Pillars of Perfection: Quality of Product, Quality of Service, Value for Money & Attitude of Staff. It is these nominations & ratings which determined the 316 Finalists. To qualify as an ABIA Designer Of Dreams finalist or winner is very impressive as it represents on-going consistency in delivering high quality products and/or services which exceed customer expectations. All finalists have received exceptional ratings and feedback from their couples each year for the past 4 consecutive years.

DJ:Plus! Entertainment always strives to exceed expectations and set standards which others in the industry aspire to emulate and subsequently has been a finalist or winner in the ABIA Designer of Dreams Awards since its inception, which is an achievement in itself, especially in this day and age where wedding businesses often do not last more than a year or two. 

My couples will always be the focus of what I do and the love that they share is considered so very precious by me, which is why I take the utmost care with their wedding day. I hope to be able to continue help create wedding memories for them, for some time yet!

DJ:Plus! Entertainment Awarded Winner Wedding DJ Category at 2018 Brides Choice Awards

The Brides Choice Awards recognises Wedding Businesses that operate in Regional Areas of Australia. They can be Nano Businesses, Micro Businesses, Small Businesses or even Major Corporates. Launched in 2011, the Brides Choice Awards acknowledges those wedding businesses that have excelled and exceeded the expectations of their Brides from around Regional Australia.

2018 marked the launch of the inaugural Western Sydney Region Brides Choice Awards. Winners of this award are voted on by the brides themselves, so no outside judging, simply it represents a reflection of each nominee in the eyes of brides. The awards recognise excellent quality of service, professionalism and flexibility of wedding suppliers and are accordingly voted on by the brides themselves and their experiences in planning their special day. In my case, I knew nothing about this and wasn’t even aware that DJ:Plus! Entertainment had been nominated until tagged on a Facebook post by Brides Choice Awards announcing the Winners!

On Tuesday 28 March 2017 DJ:Plus! Entertainment was excited to attend the 2017 Australian Bridal Industry National Designer Of Dreams Awards held at The Star (formerly Jupiter's Hotel & Casino) on the Gold Coast, Queensland as a finalist in both the Master of Ceremonies and Disc Jockey categories. The ABIA “Designer of Dreams” Title is awarded to wedding suppliers who have consistently proven their ability to generate excellence in product, service, value and staff over a rolling 4 year period. Extremely humbled and proud to have been awarded "Best Wedding MC Australia" and "Best Wedding DJ Australia Top 5". It was also especially pleasing to see my DJ Alliance Australasia friends, G&M Event Group, DJ Peter D Entertainment Plus & NikNat Entertainment and all my other industry colleagues also performed very well in the results!

DJ:Plus! Entertainment takes great pride in giving priority to it's couples and looking after their needs. Quality and customer service are a priority and are what distinguish DJ:Plus! Entertainment from many others. I always strive to exceed my couples’ expectations and meet their requirements. I am honoured when selected to be a part of their wedding day, never betray that trust and love every moment of working with them to bring their wedding dream to fruition. Australian Bridal Industry Awards | 6 December 2016

For the 16th consecutive year, DJ:Plus! Entertainment has been extremely proud and humbled to be nominated by the wonderful brides & grooms that decide to give me the ultimate privilege of placing their trust in me for their very special day. Looking back over these years, DJ:Plus! Entertainment is the only DJ to be a finalist or winner each year over this entire period (whilst MC services have always been provided, in the early days, it was not possible to be in two categories, but once again, has been in every year since possible). This on it's own shows that the service delivered is consistently high and continuously being improved.

My couples mean the world to me and giving them the day of their dreams and a beautiful beginning to a life long loving marriage is what drives me. Their love for each other is the thing of the most importance. They allow me into their lives and permit me to get to know them a little better, they share their hopes and fears with me and in doing so they touch my heart and allows me to share the love amongst their family and friends and that makes me very happy!!

20th New South Wales Annual Bridal Industry Awards

It is said that creating a wedding is like producing a movie. The Motion Picture Academy Awards are acknowledged throughout the world as a means of determining the best leading lady and man (Bride and Groom/Director & Producer), the best supporting cast (the Bridal Party) and the best cast (the wedding Guests). 

The Australian Bridal Industry Academy Awards are also acknowledged throughout Australia as a means of determining the best wedding crews, the people and businesses behind the scenes who bring one of the greatest events in a couple's life to fruition.

On Tuesday the 6th of December 2016, the Australian Bridal Industry Academy hosted the 20th New South Wales Annual Bridal Industry Awards at the exquisite Dockside Cockle Bay as a means of determining the best wedding crews in New South Wales. A total of 37 categories were acknowledged for the contribution, which they make to the wedding industry. 

A grand total of 6,416 New South Wales couples selected 423 nominees, 290 finalists and 37 winners. Representing location venues, camera people, beauty stylists, fashion designers, musicians and entertainers, transport, jewellery, set designers and stylists, food and catering, hire and special services for what was a spectacular showcase of New South Wales’ Best V.O.W.S. (Vendors Of Wedding Services).

The Chairman of ABIA, Mr John O’ Meara congratulated DJ:Plus! Entertainment as a Finalist of the Australian Bridal Industry Academy Award. Mr O’ Meara went onto say that it was businesses like DJ:Plus! Entertainment which enhanced and enriched the industry, through their tireless pursuit of excellence in Designing the Dream for each and every one of their unique wedding couples.

So very proud to have been declared the No 2 Wedding DJ and No 3 Wedding MC in Australia for 2016. The ABIA “Designer of Dreams” Title is awarded to wedding suppliers who have consistently proven their ability to generate excellence in product, service, value and staff over a rolling 4 year period. DJ:Plus! Entertainment has qualified for this title since its inception in 2009.

One of New South Wales finest Vendors Of Wedding Services (V.O.W.S.). DJ:Plus! Entertainment was honoured at the 19th NSW Annual Bridal Industry Awards held at Dockside Cockle Bay on Tuesday the 8th of December 2015.

Australian Bridal Industry Awards | 2 December 2014

On Tuesday 2 December 2014, DJ:Plus! Entertainment was once again recognised as one of the state’s Best Wedding MC & DJ Entertainers by ABIA at the 18th NSW Annual Bridal Industry Awards. Taking out runner-up in the Master Of Ceremonies Category, DJ:Plus! Entertainment was also a finalist in the Disc Jockey and Ceremony Music Categories. Consistently a finalist or winner each and every year since 2001, DJ:Plus! Entertainment's continued success at these prestigious awards is a testament to the passion and hard work invested into each and every wedding that I am given the honour to be a part of.

The Australian Bridal Industry Awards are voted on by newlyweds rating and reviewing suppliers based on the ‘Quality of Product’, ‘Quality of Service’, ‘Value for Money’ and ‘Attitude of Staff’ of each of the nominated wedding suppliers. The ratings are collated and used to determine who were, in the opinion of the voting newlyweds, the best suppliers of each wedding category.

I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my beautiful brides & grooms that took the time to provide feedback on their wedding experience using my services to ABIA. You all give the greatest honour to be a part of this milestone event in your lives, it is something which means the world to me and something which I never take for granted.
