Wedding Song Remake - Can't Help Falling In Love by Ingrid Michaelson or The Eels

Whilst the original versions of classic wedding songs, recorded by the artists that made those songs famous, will add a certain style to your wedding reception, there are quite a number of beautifully updated & modern interpretations of some of those classics songs, sung by today’s most popular artists, that can give a refreshing lift to your wedding reception. "Can't Help Falling In Love" is a very popular song for weddings. The two most common versions that couples use for their special day are; the original, which was recorded by Elvis Presley and the 1993 reggae remake by UB40. Whilst many artists have recorded this song over the years, two versions which really stand out for me, and are absolutely perfect for a first dance at a wedding, are those by Ingrid Michaelson and The Eels respectively. Take a listen and feel the emotion in these renditions - beautiful!!

Wedding Reception | 11 November 2011 | Alonya and Richard | Australian Museum, Dinosaur Room, Sydney

In early October I was contacted by DJ Richard Mills, one of New Zealand's finest wedding DJs, informing me that he was coming to Sydney to entertain at a wedding of an old friend. DJ Richard and I have had many trans Tasman conversations over the years about weddings, equipment, and all things DJ. I was very pleased when DJ Richard asked if I was willing to ride along, assist and provide some feedback - I of course jumped at this opportunity and also helped out with the audio requirements.

Alonya and Richard (the groom) were married at the Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park earlier in the afternoon, following which, as it was also Remembrance Day, Alonya decided to lay her bouquet at the ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park.

The intimate Reception for 40 guests, was held in the Dinosaur Room of the Australian Museum with the theme being Steampunk. It was a very lovely, relaxed wedding reception and a delight to meet Alonya and Richard who are both happy go lucky and warm people..that are so in love and just perfect for one another.

It was great to be at a wedding where there really was no pressure on me, I could take everything in, witness the love between two lovely people, who I might add really made me feel like I was an invited guest and observe another professional work their magic.

Charity Event | 4 November 2011 | Girls Night In | Dee Why RSL

In early October, DJ:Plus! Entertainment was approached as to it's willingness to participate and provide support for the fund raising efforts by two delightful ladies, Kate and Kirsty, in aid of The Cancer Council's work with women's cancers.  I of course readily agreed by donating the provision of Audio Support and Entertainment services for the Girls Night In which they were hosting.

The Event, Northern Beaches 2011 Girls Night In was held at Dee Why RSL. A capacity crowd of 280 ladies attended and enjoyed, champagne on arrival, finger food, tarot card readings, mini manicures, mini massages, hand massages, style tips, Zumba demonstration and lots of dancing. Not forgetting that the aim was to raise vital funds, raffle tickets were sold (with LOTS of prizes), girls could buy a balloon (which contained a prize guaranteed to be valued at least 40% more than the purchase price) and a silent action which had items from kids toys to bikes to week long holidays in Bryon Bay.

It certainly was a hugely successful night, the girls had an absolute ball and most importantly, just over $13,000 was raised for the Cancer Council. I was very happy that DJ:Plus! Entertainment was able to contribute to this event, add to the enjoyment of all the very generous lovely ladies who attended (yes, even those which tried very hard, but were unsuccessful, to entice me onto the dance floor!). Big thanks must of course go to Kate and Kirsty who put a HUGE amount of effort into organising the event - I am so pleased that your time and effort was rewarded by a result which exceeded your expectations. Well done!!!
