The Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) has recognised the attention to detail along with the pride, passion and professional manner in which services are consistently provided by awarding DJ:Plus! Mobile Disco Entertainment a Six Star Gold Accreditation Status. As you can imagine, I am extremely proud of this recognition as this accreditation is not given for "one-off" exceptional service, but for consistent exceptional service over many years.

Wedding Reception | 8 March 2008 | Anh Kim and Stephen | International, Canley Vale, Sydney

Reception for 220 guests held at the Canley Vale International Function Centre, Canley Vale in south west Sydney. Anh Kim and Stephen were treated to a fantastic Sydney day for their wedding ceremony which took place earlier in the day at Auburn Botanical Garden.

Anh Kim and Stephen are a lovely couple who were very happy and had a smile on their faces all night. The reception followed traditional Vietnamese wedding etiquette with some western influences. Guests were treated to a lovely ten course, predominately seafood, banquet.

Entertainment for the first part of the evening was provided by "The Little Finger" Band which featured a number of vocalists performing individual sets. I think I counted six singers, 2 male and 4 female. The band played a mixture of Vietnamese and Western music which was enjoyed by all present.

A special highlight of the evening was that the music for the first dance was played on the piano and sung by Stephen's younger sister, Tanya. A portion of this can be heard in the video clip below. Guests were also treated to the Anh Kim and Stephen "Love Story" which was told by the Best Man - a wonderful insight into their relationship, how it developed, blossomed into a deep love for each other and a lifelong commitment.

My main role was to provide the entertainment for the later part of the evening. Guests danced until the final moment. In summary, it was an extremely enjoyable evening amongst family and friends to celebrate the very special love that Anh Kim and Stephen obviously share for each other.

Wedding Reception | 22 February 2008 | Melanie and Rod | Wharf Restaurant, Walsh Bay, Sydney

Reception for 115 guests held at the The Wharf Restaurant, Walsh Bay. The restaurant is housed at the end of a renovated timber finger wharf which is also home to the Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney Dance Company. During the day the restaurant is flooded with natural light and the views are spectacular. In the evening, the view is equally as impressive with the beautiful night lights of the Harbour Bridge, Luna Park and the North Sydney skyline.

Melanie and Rod were blessed with a absolutely beautiful Sydney day. Both were exceptionally happy and looked sensational. It was an elegant, classy and stylish reception yet with a relaxed feel, a perfect fit with the ambiance of the venue. During the evening both Rod and Melanie took to the microphone to say a few words and thank some very special people.

Melanie's parents had traveled from the UK to be at the wedding and Rod's son had traveled from the US, arriving on the morning of the wedding and leaving to return 48 hours later - being in an airplane almost for as long he was in Australia. The attendance by these and some other traveled guests made the day that much more special for Melanie and Rod.

When Rod first contacted me he made mention that he had a special surprise for Melanie (and the guests of course) in that he had secured the services of The Three Waiters. I have had the opportunity to work with this show before on numerous occasions so knew how it all worked. For those that are not aware, The Three Waiters show involves three singing waiters hiding in plain sight at the event before unleashing a dynamic and sophisticated live performance a la The Three Tenors! Dressed and behaving exactly like the other staff, they greet guests on arrival - perhaps offering them a pre-dinner drink, finger food, a bread roll or directions to the cloak room. At no time do guests realise they are Singing Waiters - until the finale! Everyone was very surprised and the act included Rod singing "Can't Help Falling In Love" to Melanie on bended knee - very romantic indeed (except for the glomesh sparkling Elvis type jacket that Rod wore as part of the show).

All in all a wonderful evening had by everyone. A very happy couple. great food, great atmosphere, great company, fantastic surprise, lots of dancing and a fun time had by all.

Corporate Event | 8 February 2008 | Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney

Farewell/Retirement Event for corporate executive after 37 years of service with the organisation. Held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney in the Cambridge Rooms, the retirement dinner was attended by 45 guests which consisted of colleagues and their partners. In addition to DJ:Plus! Mobile Disco Entertainment, the retiree was the subject of a comedy hoax by comedian Rodney Marks which was enjoyed immensely by all present. Rodney's act is unique in that he arrives at an event in character, and mingles with attendees. He attends pre-dinner drinks and dinner and works the room. This mixing establishes the credibility of Rodney’s comic character. At some agreed point, he will be called to a lectern to deliver a “keynote address”. During the delivery of this presentation, audience members slowly realise that they have been had - as the retiree found out.

I have a great deal of passion for weddings, which is why I specialise in them and at times spend time on the internet browsing wedding related topics. In browsing the web, I happened across this wedding related video/film which I feel is a excellent example of the art of visual expression that really captures people's attention. Weddings offer the opportunity for the videographer to express their creativity whilst capturing one of the most important days in a couple's journey. Executed properly, wedding moments delivered in the most expressive of ways will certainly grab everyone's attention and bring back all the beautiful memories. It is of course important that the footage shows emotions, expressions and honesty in a very entertaining way whether it is touching, dramatic or funny!

Have a look at this trailer which I believe is a teaser for the forthcoming full wedding video production which has been based on a cinematic blockbuster movie preview. If you take a look at the credits, it is actually the names of the individual members of the bridal party. I thought it was very well done and contained all the elements required to make it attention grabbing and memorable. Please feel free to leave your comments as I am very interested to hear whether you agree with me.

New Year's Eve Event | 31 December 2007 | Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney

Private celebration for 100 guests to celebrate the end of 2007 and see in 2008. Held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney in the Cambridge Rooms located on the 3rd floor. The Cambridge Rooms has views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and of the Sydney skyline - a perfect venue to witness the New Year's Eve fireworks display.

The 2007 NYE display was fifteen months in the planning culminating in a much anticipated 12 minutes of intense fireworks involving 30,000 effects, six barges located across the harbour, eight City buildings and, of course, the famous arches and roadways of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The entire pyrotechnics show was synchronised with a soundtrack which reflected the 2007 theme "The Time Of Our Lives".

Guests at the event enjoyed a fabulous buffet, fireworks and dancing into the early hours - a fun time for all. The event was hosted by a very prominent business executive and attended by high profile guests. To respect their privacy, there are no photographs or videos in this post which depict any guests at this event. It was certainly a great honour to be asked to provide the entertainment for this celebration once again (DJ:Plus! provided the entertainment for another similar NYE event hosted by this businessman in 2005).
