This Is How You Enter A Room!

Were Ainslee and Vincent ready to party? YES! This was a shot perfectly captured by Jack & Jem Photography as I introduced the newlyweds to the guests waiting inside the reception room.

...and did they party?

They most definitely did!

Focus On The Fun At Your Wedding

If you are like most couples, I am certain you would like all your guests to dance and have an awesome time at your wedding reception. The smiles, the laughter, the fun........all of it is achievable! All you need is the right wedding DJ/MC, the right plan, the right schedule of events and the right attitude. Unfortunately however, the truth of the matter is that there are many boring wedding receptions which take place each week. You may have even been to one or two or more of them (I most certainly have). Often the blame tends to fall on the Bride and Groom or the DJ/MC, or all three. Because couples have never organised a wedding before and most DJ/MC Entertainers don't have the personality and experience necessary to lead couples in the right direction, to give them the right advice or to know what to do when something unexpected happens. Please allow me to explain further and share a few suggestions that may assist in  creating that unforgettable wedding reception.

Very simply, your wedding reception is a celebration, a party. Accordingly, the top thing that most guests will remember from a wedding is the fun they had. So for now, take your focus off the decorations, the wedding dress, the fancy chairs, the place card holders, the sashes, the flowers and the venue. Those things won't help you have a fun wedding reception. Not one bit. While they certainly have their place, it is your guests and the activities during the reception that will connect and engage your guests, and create the joy and excitement that everlasting memories are made of.

People and emotion create memories.

Your guests will have opportunities to express and flaunt those emotions throughout your wedding, but one of the greatest opportunities will be when they join together on the dance floor and create a synergy that can be generated only by those who are your nearest and dearest. The entertainment is the driving force that makes people remember your fun entry, your emotional first dance, the maid of honour kicking off her heels and the groomsmen pulling off their ties.

I have entertained at some of the most exclusive venues and private estates in Sydney and it's surrounding areas. But I have also entertained at and created a memorable and super fun wedding reception in a humble backyard or family property with views of the rubbish bins, chicken coops, piles of junk and discarded tractor tyres amongst a whole lot of other unsightly views. But none of that mattered. The couple had an incredible time with their family and friends because they made entertainment a priority and they planned everything with the guests in mind.

Focus on what matters. Focus on the guests. Focus on the entertainment. Focus on the little things in between. That is what guests will remember from your wedding day. That is what will get them pumped up and ready to dance. You want your guests to feel as if you have fully considered what they would like when it comes to music, activities, entertainment and dancing, instead of just thinking about what you would like.

It is also important to stay positive during the wedding planning process. Remember that the main function of a wedding reception is not to try and impress your friends. That is where most people make their first mistake and end up unecessarily, putting too much pressure on themselves.

In summary, make your wedding about the two of you, but don't forget to keep the guests in mind. A talented DJ/MC Entertainer can help you create an evening full of fun and personal moments that will result in such fabulous memories. My wish is that you have an absolutely incredible wedding reception, one that you will remember for the rest of your life!

Wedding Song Remake - All Of Me by Ginny Blackmore & Barry Southgate

Kiwi artist Ginny Blackmore and fellow musician and friend, Barry Southgate deliver a stunning rendition of one of the most popular wedding songs from last year, John Legend's, "All Of Me". This is a great song for the register signing or for a first dance as it contains both female and male vocals - so it is as if the bride and groom are singing to each other. Accordingly, if you love the John Legend original version but wanted to put a different spin on an overly used song, this amazing cover would be just perfect! Only issue is, I was unable to find anywhere it could be purchased from. If you find somewhere, please be kind enough to leave a comment and let me know where.

All Of Me

What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
You've got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright

My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine
You're crazy and I'm out of my mind

'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh oh

How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you're crying you're beautiful too
The world is beating you down, I'm around through every mood
You're my downfall, you're my muse
My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues
I can't stop singing, it's ringing, in my head for you

My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine
You're crazy and I'm out of my mind

'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh oh

Give me all of you
Cards on the table, we're both showing hearts
Risking it all, though it's hard

'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you

I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh oh

DJ:Plus! Entertainment Winner Best Wedding DJ Sydney, NSW & Australia at 2015 Wedding Industry Experts Awards

Wow! I am just a little speechless and still in shock. Just been informed that for the fourth consecutive year, at the Wedding Industry Experts Awards for 2015, DJ:Plus! Entertainment has been awarded;

Winner: Most Popular Disc Jockey - Sydney
Winner: Most Popular Disc Jockey - New South Wales
Winner: Most Popular Disc Jockey - Australia

So extremely honoured to be awarded the Most Popular Wedding DJ in my city, state and country and considered Best Wedding DJ Sydney, Best Wedding DJ NSW, and Best Wedding DJ in Australia. My couples are very special to me and being entrusted with their wedding day, the day they promise themselves to each other, the day they vow to love and cherish one another for the rest of their lives, the day they become husband and wife, the day two become one, is certainly not something I take lightly.  Accordingly I give my all to ensure it is the best celebration it can possibly be.

Love and happiness fuels my passion for weddings and to create beautiful memories, connections and if through something I do, in this age of disposable marriage, can inspire a couple during difficult times, to think back to how much love filled them both on their wedding day, there is hopefully a far better chance that they will work on the intentional effort it takes to make each day better than the day before, resolve any issues and to continue falling in love with each other, over and over again - till the end of time.

Thank you to all my beautiful couples that invite me to their wedding as either their Wedding MC and/or Wedding DJ, it is you and your love for each other that makes the wedding journey such a joy and a whole heap of fun!! Love you all!

Wedding Reception | 22 May 2015 | Tessa & Ulysses | The Tea Room, QVB, Sydney

“Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words”  ~  Plautus

Sometimes it the most unfortunate of circumstances and when we least expect it, love can find a way of manifesting it's presence. It all started with Tessa and Ulysses' dads who were best friends. Uly even played with Tessa and her older sister when they were all kids. Uly was living in London when he received the sad news that his father has passed away suddenly due to heart failure and immediately returned to Australia for the funeral. It was at the funeral that Tessa & Ulysses met again. They only very vaguely remembered each other but it was the start of a beautiful love story that would eventually lead to their wedding day.

Following the funeral, Tessa looked Uly up on Facebook and following Uly's return to London, they chatted via Facebook, with a shared love of food, they often cooked a meal together, via Facebook, and posted what they had cooked for each other to see. This eventually led to Skype dates and within five months of the funeral, Tessa felt compelled to go to London. She was met by Uly and welcomed with a "spin, dip & kiss" in front of a terminal full of people. At the end of the three weeks they knew they were in love.

On 3 May 2013, following numerous fake proposals in the week leading up to this day, Uly asked Tessa to be his wife and share the rest of her life with him. Fast forward to 22 May 2015 and here we were celebrating their marriage at The Tea Room Queen Victoria Building. This stylish venue with it's custom designed Baccarat crystal chandeliers and beautiful Victorian ceiling, was the perfect choice for this gorgeous couple's wedding reception.

It was an evening filled with lots of wonderful emotions - there were tears, there was laughter, there were more tears, there was a heap of fun and there was love; there was lots of LOVE! It was so beautiful to see just how much Tessa and Uly were adored by their family and friends and to see them join in and truly celebrate their marriage. Lots of guests dancing the night away, Tessa & Uly hoisted into the air (which was really so fitting as we had introduced them as Lord Ulysses and Lady Tessa at the beginning of the evening).

Tessa and Uly are a beautiful fun-loving couple with whom I instantly connected with. I loved meeting with them and hearing some of their stories about their journey which led to their wedding day. Love is not reflected in superficial prettiness.  Love is creating something together that will last long after you are around to see what it becomes.  It was such an immense honour to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this historic moment in your lives.  I feel so very privileged to have played a small part as your Wedding DJ Sydney & Sydney Wedding MC in creating some of the memories for your future. I know that your love will leave a legacy bigger than you ever imagined! May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!
